It’s the end of March. Not just the end of the month, but the end of three months—the entire first quarter of the year.

Time flew by. So… how are those New Year’s resolutions going?

If you’re like most people, you abandoned them by the second week of January. Life got busy. You started traveling. Work got hectic. The kids got sick. You got sick. You went through a breakup. Motivation faded.

You told yourself you’d start fresh next Monday… then the next… then the next.

And now, here we are—at the end of March.

So today, I want to give you a pep talk to help you get back on track. And it’s based on one simple truth:

Being fit requires doing what most people won’t.

Achieving something great—like a strong, fit body—means making choices most people aren’t willing to make. That’s what makes it great. That’s what makes it an outlier.

(Shout-out to NBA star, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander [pictured above], for that insight. Go watch Court of Gold on Netflix!)

  • Most people don’t work out consistently.

  • Most people don’t prioritize their health until it becomes a problem.

  • And most people end up with weak muscles, chronic pain, low energy, and frustration with their bodies.

I once had someone say to me, “Who has time to work out??”

And they were exactly right. No one has time!

That’s the point. If fitness were easy, convenient, and fit neatly into everyone’s schedule, then most people would be in shape.

But most people aren’t in shape.

If you want to be fit, you cannot be like most people.

And the difference between being fit and being unfit isn’t luck. It’s choices.

You have to make the choices most people won’t—

  • Prioritizing your workouts when it’s easier to skip

  • Making a game plan for your nutrition instead of winging it every day

  • Showing up even when motivation fades

To be in great shape, you must do what most people won't.

Now, this doesn’t mean suffering through extreme diets or living at the gym.

But it does mean you have to make the time. Put your workouts in your calendar like an important meeting—because it is.

It does mean you have to invest in yourself. Get a personal trainer, sign up for an online program, or buy healthier food.

It does mean you have to commit. Show up even when motivation fades, and let your commitment drive you.

Most people give up when life gets busy.

Most people choose convenience over commitment.

Don’t be like most people. Be the outlier.

To be clear, I don’t say this to shame you or make you feel guilty.

If you're going through a tough season, I feel for you.

Whether you're navigating a major work deadline, caring for a loved one, or just trying to keep your head above water—sometimes, fitness has to take a temporary backseat. And that’s okay.

I also don’t say "most people" to be arrogant or imply that you’re better than others.

This isn’t about superiority—it’s about recognizing patterns.

Most people tell themselves they’ll get back on track eventually. But eventually never comes unless you make it happen.

So, I want to nudge you to take an honest look at where you are and where you want to be.

It’s never too late to get back on track. Every choice you make—starting today—moves you closer to the strong, fit body you want.

Your future self depends on today’s choices.

  • The health and body you’ll have at 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 is being built right now.

  • The quality of life your partner will experience with you is being built right now.

  • The healthy habits your kids will see and model are being built right now.

It’s the end of March. But you've still got nine months left in the year. Plenty of time to recommit, reset, and make this year different.

Don’t be like most people. Be the outlier.
